We invented TORe

In our Harvard lab.

~10–15%

Average total body weight loss.

30–45 min

Outpatient procedure, home the same day.

No incisions

Endoscopic — through the mouth.

Is this you?

Who Everself TORe is for

Meaningful weight loss after a bypass — without another operation, without a lifelong prescription.

Had a gastric bypass and the weight came back.

Don't want another surgery, but want to lose the regained weight.

Want a real program around the procedure, not just one follow-up.

How it works

A single conversation. A single 45-minute procedure. A year of care.

1

Narrow the outlet · Day 1

Under sedation, your physician threads an endoscope down to the pouch–intestine junction and places a circular suture pattern around the widened outlet. The bypass itself is untouched. Same-day discharge.

2

Relearn full · Weeks 1–2

Satiety arrives earlier in a meal — sometimes within the first couple of bites. Liquids the first few days, then soft foods, then regular eating. Back to work in 1–3 days.

3

The 12-month Everself program

A re-narrowed outlet only delivers durable weight loss if eating patterns change too. 12+ check-ins, smart scale, patient app, 24/7 clinical on-call.

The doctor who invented this

Born in our Harvard lab. TORe at its best.

Not all TORe is the same. Pattern, depth, the hands at the controls — every detail decides how much weight you lose. Everself TORe is the original protocol, performed by the team that invented it.

Dr. Christopher C. Thompson

Meet the inventor of TORe, Dr. Christopher Thompson

Harvard Medical School Professor · Everself co-founder

"Too many patients were regaining weight after gastric sleeve and bypass surgery, only to be told their next option was another surgery. I believed there had to be a better way. After a decade of research at Harvard, we developed a non-surgical approach to revision. Today, Everself brings that protocol directly to patients."

Two options

Everself TORe, or Everself TORe+

Both are 30–45 minute endoscopic procedures with the same recovery profile. Everself TORe+ adds therapeutic steps shown to deliver stronger average weight loss. Your physician will recommend which fits your anatomy and goals.

Standard

Everself TORe

Endoscopic outlet reduction.

~10%

Average total body weight loss

  • 30–45 minute outpatient procedure
  • No incisions, no scars
  • 1–3 days typical recovery
  • 12-month support program included
Enhanced

Everself TORe+

Outlet reduction plus ESD for deeper, more durable stitches.

~15%

Average total body weight loss

  • Same 30–45 minute outpatient procedure
  • Same recovery profile (1–3 days)
  • Stronger weight loss outcomes vs. standard Everself TORe
  • 12-month support program included

The Everself Program

12 months of concierge care, designed around you.

The success of a gastric bypass revision depends on both what happens in the procedure room and the months that follow. Our 12-month program is built around the full arc. Most clinics manage 1–6 check-ins for the year; we map 12+ to the recovery curve.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Am I a candidate for TORe if my gastric bypass was done years ago?
Most patients are candidates regardless of how long ago they had the original gastric bypass. The most important factors are your current weight, the current state of your gastric bypass outlet (the gastrojejunal stoma), and your overall health. Patients with bypasses done 10, 20, even 25+ years ago routinely qualify. A consultation confirms eligibility.
How common is weight regain after gastric bypass surgery?
Weight regain after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass affects roughly 1 in 5 patients within 5 years and a higher proportion at 10 to 20 years. The most common mechanism is gradual dilation of the gastrojejunal outlet — the connection between the stomach pouch and small intestine — which lets food pass through too quickly, reducing the restriction the bypass originally provided. TORe (Transoral Outlet Reduction) is the endoscopic answer: re-narrow the outlet without re-cutting anything.
What's the difference between TORe and TORe+?
TORe is the standard endoscopic outlet reduction — internal sutures that narrow the dilated gastrojejunal outlet. TORe+ pairs the procedure with additional therapeutic steps (mucosal ablation around the stitches) shown in published series to improve average weight-loss outcomes from roughly 10% to 15% total body weight loss. Your physician will recommend the right option at consultation based on your anatomy and weight-loss goals.
How is TORe different from surgical bypass revision?
Surgical bypass revision re-cuts and re-routes intestinal anatomy through laparoscopic incisions and typically requires 2–4 weeks of recovery. TORe (Transoral Outlet Reduction) places internal sutures endoscopically through the mouth — no incisions, no scars, and 1–3 days of typical recovery. Published meta-analyses put endoscopic revision's major complication rate near 1–2%, vs. about 29% for surgical bypass revision.
How does TORe compare to taking a GLP-1 like Ozempic or Wegovy?
GLP-1 medications can produce meaningful weight loss while you take them, but published STEP 1 trial data shows participants regained the majority of their weight loss within a year of stopping semaglutide. TORe is a one-time procedure paired with a 12-month support program; the restored stoma restriction is durable. Many TORe patients combine the two — a GLP-1 during the active weight-loss phase, the restored anatomy and habit-building program to hold results long-term. Everself includes GLP-1 management in your TORe package at no extra charge.
How long does the TORe procedure take?
The TORe procedure itself takes about 45 minutes. You should plan on spending roughly half a day with us including preparation and recovery, and you'll go home the same day. No incisions, no hospital stay.
Is an evaluation required before TORe?
An upper endoscopy or barium test may be recommended to check your pouch and outlet if you haven't been evaluated recently. In most cases, this evaluation is done at the start of the TORe procedure itself, so you don't need a separate prior visit.
How much weight will I lose with TORe?
Patients average about 10% total body weight loss with standard TORe and about 15% with TORe+. The strongest outcomes are in patients who complete the full 12-month Everself support program — the procedure restores restriction; the program rebuilds the eating patterns that hold the result over time.
What are the risks of TORe?
Most patients experience temporary discomfort, nausea, or chest pressure in the first 24–48 hours. The major complication rate — including infection or bleeding — is about 1–2% in published series. By comparison, the major complication rate for surgical bypass revision is about 29%. Everself provides 24/7 clinical on-call support during the recovery period.
What is recovery like after TORe?
You go home the same day. Everself provides complimentary IV hydration the day after your procedure to help you recover faster. Most patients take 1–3 days off before returning to work, following a full-liquid plan, then a soft diet, then regular eating over the first 2–3 weeks.
Does insurance cover TORe, and can I combine it with a GLP-1?
Most insurance plans do not currently cover endoscopic bariatric revision. Everself is a self-pay program; financing is available from $275/month via Cherry and CareCredit. Many TORe patients also use GLP-1s like Ozempic or Wegovy as part of their program; we include GLP-1 medication management in your package at no extra charge (medications themselves are not included).
