Dr. Avik Sarkar, MD

Dr. Sarkar is a double board-certified gastroenterologist with advanced endoscopy fellowship training with a special interest in endoscopic management of obesity. He has extensive experience and has performed over 1000 procedures using the endoscopic suturing device. Dr. Sarkar has had multiple presentations at major gastroenterology conferences and has published several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.

Dr. Avik Sarkar received world-class education in leading medical institutions. Then he started using his expertise in gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy to tackle the issue of obesity in the US and across the world. After getting an undergraduate degree at Rutgers University, he continued his education at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He completed a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and later pursued a fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Avik Sarkar’s vast knowledge and a special focus in gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy allows him to take the field of endobariatric medicine to a new level. In 2023, Dr. Sarkar co-founded Reveal Weight Loss, New Jersey’s first dedicated endobariatric clinic. He received a rating of 5 out of 5 for his expertise, dedication to his work, communication skills, and collaboration with his outstanding team.
