Board-certified gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist specializing in minimally invasive and endoscopic weight-loss therapies, with dedicated fellowship training in advanced endoscopy.
Dr. Haroon Shahid is an Advanced Endoscopist who is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, with fellowship training in advanced endoscopic procedures, including non-surgical weight loss therapies. He is the co-founder of Reveal Weight Loss, New Jersey’s first dedicated Endobariatric practice. Under his leadership, the practice earned over 100 five-star reviews by providing a highly personalized, patient-centered approach to the treatment of obesity.
Dr. Shahid completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University and earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, now Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH) in Philadelphia. He remained at TJUH to complete a Gastroenterology fellowship. He then pursued an additional specialized one-year Advanced Endoscopy fellowship at the same institution, where he developed expertise in complex endoscopic and bariatric procedures.
Throughout his career, Dr. Shahid has been actively involved in medical education, teaching residents and gastroenterology fellows during his tenure at Rutgers–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and currently at Hackensack Meridian Health. He has served as co-director of the Mid-Atlantic Gastrointestinal Interventional Course (MAGIC) and the inaugural Emerging Pancreatic Innovations Conference (EPIC) in New Jersey. He was also a featured speaker at the Mid-Atlantic Bariatric Endoscopy Course (MALBEC), New Jersey’s first conference dedicated to endoscopic bariatric therapies. His commitment to advancing the field is reflected in his involvement in multiple research projects.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Shahid enjoys playing and watching basketball and spending time with his wife and three children.
